I use an air card Alltel, for my internet access. It seems to get better reception when I sit by a window? I wish I knew what affected the reception.
Some have said the number of ppl using it in the nighborhood. But then it would be better late at night or early in the am.

Any obstruction on the direct line betwen your antenna and the transmitting antenna will weaken the signal. Tree leaves, clouds and rain all have an effect. It works well by the window because radio waves pass through glass much easier than through walls.
I use a card from Centennial Wireless (now AT&T Wireless) and it works best when it’s in the window, relatively high up. Also, the shorter the cord, the better, we have found. We keep it in the blinds and move it around to get the best reception. I swear the weather affects its reception, just like it does with the TV antenna receiving the digital signal. Also, we live right across the road from the county airport, and tend to blame the planes for interference, even if it’s not true because they make a convenient scapegoat, LOL!
Most of our neighbors use high-speed from Charter and their service is better. We will probably switch if the cost factor isn’t too prohibitive. I would love to watch more videos but it’s nearly impossible without waiting a long time for them to load.
