I have recently been given a computer for home. It came from an office where they had networked the computer to a server and other computers. The computer itself works fine apart from my Dvd/Cd drive -(nothing is wrong with the drive i have tested in another computer). It doesn’t seem to exist to this computer that has come from the office i have tried adding new hardware but nothing can be found! If i put a disk in the drive it just doesn’t load. I’m guessing that it has something to do with the computer been networked to the server. Does anyone know how to get rid of having this network on my computer?

I don’t really know about computers except for using a web browser, microsoft word and really basic things like that. I’d really like to learn, but it seems like a certain level of knowledge is assumed even for people just starting to learn programming. I’d like to fully understand computers, not just memorize some steps from the For Dummies series or something like that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

ive been wanting to get a new processor for my computer. its a dell inspiron 530 with currently a very outdated intel pentium dual cpu e2140 @ 1.60ghz @ 1.60ghz. i really want to upgrade to soemthing near 2.5ghz or higher if possible but dell is telling me that if i want to do so it will have to be compatible with my motherboard. my problem is they want to charge me $250 to find out which are compatible. please hlep me in trying to find one i can install i know how to intall it i just need to find the right card.
what i forgot to add is that my graphics card i curently have is an ati 2600 pro HD which runs like a dream. i just think it would help to get a little more cpu speed until i can get a job to pay for a custom gaming comp

I need help. My computer keeps poping up with messages that say my computer is infected and that i need to install a special program they are letting me download. the message says…
“warning !!! your computer contains various types of vulnerabilities and threats. Your system requires immediat anti viruses scan! Personal antivirus can perform fast and free virus and malicious software of your computer” once i click ok

im scanning it as much as i can with Avira antivir and windows live one care this is another message i get

” harmful and malicious software detected. These programs may damage your computer and steal private information. Online security scanner requires personal antivirus components to repair your computer. Please click ok to download and install personal antivirus tool”

please help when i go to download the software from live one care
“make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use” and thus dosnt let me download

Please help for anyone that can help me get rid of these infections i will
