Are there any companies in Houston that offers OTJ training or entry level opportunity for a person who is skilled at desktop troubleshooting (hardware and software) and is very willing to learn as much as possible about Information Technology ?

I’m 17, I’m crazy experienced for a 17 year old with no training, but none of the local computer repair shops in my area seem willing to give me a try or pay me (*ahem* CyberSeconds LLC,)

Oh, and I COULD be having a baby on the way.

Those type of Work At Home Start Up business are all scams. And even if one isnt, I wouldnt trust it.
The economy just doesnt work well enough for something like that to be 100% effective

I’m really looking for a change in career status to better help myself a great deal. heres my situation.

I’m turning 22 and i do like the job that im at right now, BUT it’s not cutting it “income wise” I’ve been working at Car dealerships for the past 3 years now and really want to finally pursue my goal in working for a computer IT or computer PC repair company. I have some college credits completed already, but academically im very challenged with math and a few other subjects.
i do want to go back to school, but im also in a situation were i don’t have time to go back since im working 2 long houred jobs.

YES i know there is ways to achieve going back to school and so-forth. BUT really i wanna know if theres any possibility that a computer repair company would give me a shot without my degree. I have very good experience with PC’s and software. Would there be companies that would maybe give me a shot? And maybe even pay for me for additional training?

One key has popped off my HP G60 laptop (the backspace key) and I’ve watched several repair videos on internet as to how to fix this. The procedure involves separating the plastic retainer from the key cap, then inserting the retainer into the grooves on the keyboard base, then snapping the key cap back on.

I’ve done that several times but the problem is that one side of the rectangular backspace key still remains loose. If you turn the laptop over after reattaching the key cap, the right side hangs down and is loose while the left side remains attached. So I am wondering if the right side of the plastic retainer needs to be glued to the keyboard.

Or it may be that the metal prongs over which the retainer fits on the right side need to be bent outward a bit so that when the plastic retainer is strapped over them, the retainer will hold it down more securely. I am at the point of using needle-nose pliers to bend those two right-side prongs outward from each other in opposite directions, but am afraid I will be doing the wrong thing such that the key may not depress and function as designed. There was no rough treatment of this key when it popped off, but as the backspace key, it’s somewhat like the space bar in getting more relative use than other keys. The laptop is 9 months old and still under warranty…but I will have to ship it off for repairs and be without for two weeks with no back-up, and that will wreck havoc with my business which depends on laptop / internet use every day. And it seems silly to ship the whole laptop off for the sake of just one key that popped off.

So are the retainers normally glued to the metal keyboard base before the key caps are placed on? Or might I risk damaging the computer if super glue leaks into or onto any of the electronic surfaces? Or again, is bending the prongs that hold the retainer the correct fix here?

Please note if you are experience with fixing this problem or have training / knowledge in computer keyboard repair. Thank you!
