My old hard drive got damaged, so I bought a new Seagate barracuda 500gb SATA hard drive. I plugged in the power and the data cord in the appropriate slots. This is the first time I’m installing a new hard drive. The motherboard doesn’t detect the hard drive and when I try to boot the windows xp disc from the cd it says that it cannot read the disc. I’m sort of a newbie at installing new computer components, so please help me figure out what to do. Thanks in advance!

I have a 1 TB WD external hard drive. Today, I connect it to a Mac Book without any knowledge about it, after it was undetectable on Windows and even mac book. How to can i recover my data?
Thanks, Yes I access to PC. I connect it via its usb3 port but it is undetectable on My Computer.
Its light is on and it is detectable at device manager and disk management but while right click are inactive all item

I bought a Seagate external hard drive 4 months ago. I don’t even use it that much. I was going to move data from my pc to the drive and it suddenly stopped working. I have been trying to contact seagate and they’ll make you wait for hours and the websites warranty section is always down. Seagate offered mre $2200 & $1700 for them to recover my files. I am looking for a place where I could bring in my hard drive and recover my data.

There are so many that come up when I search on google, I just want to make sure I’m sending my hard drive off to the best one. There is also one here in the Bay Area (called bay area recovery or something) does anyone know if that’s any good?

Trying to recover some files that disappeared after playing with partitions.

The laptop hard drive seems to have a lot of bad sectors however and is probably damaged. (Problems copying files, slow, etc.)

Should I try to to do data recovery first or try to fix the damaged drive. Will fixing the bad sectors affect the data recovery software?

Not very versed in this subject. The only thing I’ve been told is that it can cost anywhere from $50 to nearly $2000 dollars to get data recovered from a hard drive.

I need to be enlightened…
What about if the hard drive has physical damage?
