Can you actually believe this guy? Where is the liberal view of equality and fairness? Shouldn’t we Southerners, or more directly NASCAR fans, of which I am not by the way, get our vaccines before we travel north of the Mason Dixon line?

And for this guy to say we are a national security threat…is he nuts!!! He should immediately be removed from office for attempts to segregate and polorize this nation.

I think maybe those who are hocky fans need to be vaccinated to prevent the spread of their violence to the rest of the country! How’s that!

What do you think about this guy?
Sorry about the mixup on the states. I was just so damn mad I could see straight!
NOTE to ideogenetic, If we had a national health care system, there would be no NASCAR, hockey, football or anything like that. It would be too costly for the government to provide those athletes coverage.

Oh and we would not have to worry about vaccines either. The government would tell us who was able to have the shots and who wasn’t. You best leave stupidity out of a discussion of racism. You might fall in with the other stupid people who promote racism.

  • one_for_the_doctor says:

Can you imagine if a white politicain told his staff to get shots before going to a mainly black event?

    He would be called “racist”

The democrats double standard shpws its face once again and in the process offended a lot of voters.

Good job dems, you just lost the 2008 election( not that you had any chance to begin with)

  • mild_irritant says:

I can’t really get too worked up about a “sport” that involves nothing more than making left turns.

  • Bluesman says:

I think you have your states mixed up. MA is for Massachusetts. Mississippi is MS.

  • freepress02 says:

I have had all those shots,,,,

  • citizenvnfla says:

Just another “chocolate city” statement. Imus was fired for his racial remarks, but it’s not racial if a black says it. After all they are the ONLY ones who can say the “N” word without being publicly humiliated.

  • Speak says:

Ok, I think he’s an idiot. But if you think he should be removed from office for stating something stupid, that means we would have to kick everyone out of office and start over. There is no one in any political office that has not done anything incredible stupid. Bush for example?
I am from Massachusetts. He’s from Mississippi.

  • ideogenetic says:

Being a former southerner, that’s hilarious!

As to the liberal view of “equality and fairness”, if we had a national health-care insurance system, you’d never need to worry that a poor southerner or hick didn’t get his shots.

  • pdooma says:

Actually, he’s from Mississippi. Which means he should KNOW better. He’s in the heart of NASCAR country. I think that if he was actually from Massachusetts he would have gotten more forgiveness…the whole ignorant northerner who doesn’t “get” it.

At any rate, you can bet that it gets dragged up at the next election.

  • Common Sense says:

    Yes.

  • Westhill says:

As the chair of the Homeland Security committee, he is privy to terror threats, including threats about biological weapons. I still remember the weaponized anthrax of 2001 that killed at least five people.

To say that a southerner is prejudiced against a good ol’ boy spectator sport is absurd. To abbreviate Mississippi as MA and to call it a liberal state is dishonest.

  • lynnsanner@sbcglobal.net says:

That’s just the way normal way of the liberal democrats. They are always scared of something.

  • anthonyinkc says:

His comments have nothing to do with his politics.

His comments were simply stupid, and the voters that put him in office can decide his fate.

  • Tokoloshemani says:

    From the link:
By Thompson’s standards, you’ve not only got it bad – but you’re also a walking, talking, fire-breathing, beer-drinking, tobacco-spittin’, cussin’ and cheerin’ sumbitch who is carrying enough pestilence and pathos to bring the good, old U.S. of A to its knees.

    Isn’t this true?
    Come on, be honest!
Nascar fans are NOT exactly the cream of society now, are they?

  • mudmarine says:

    Just another liberal nut case.
Sees doom everywhere he looks and must do something about it.

  • stirker w says:

LIBERAL DEMOCRAT POLITICIANS AND VOTERS WEAR THE MARK OF THE BEAST…

  • Mark M says:

I am a liberal and NASCAR bores me to tears, but this guy is a world class moron and a racist. He deserves any and all ridicule, scorn and punishment he gets for being so stupid.

And for the record, he’s a Southerner too (from Mississippi), not from Mass. And as a New Englander, I invite you and all your friends from Dixie to travel here vaccine-free…

  • Chance20_m says:

Wait a minute, in the link you give the writer states that this was “part of a broader review of federal response to massive emergencies at a large, crowded venue like Lowe’s Motor Speedway.”

The link article is an opinion piece, and appears to be assigning motives and intentions not actually expressed by the congressmen. Nowhere in the article is he actually quoted as insulting NASCAR fans or insinuating they are diseased. If this makes you mad, you’d really hate the safety briefs the army used to give us before a pass. Here is an actual quote from him (convienantly not in the link you give) : “”It’s not about whether the people have shots. … Our staffs as they go forward will be going into sterile areas, they will be working in public health facilities, they will be talking to many holding facilities where criminals are being held…. The NASCAR event is just one date, but after that they will be doing a number of things,” said Thompson, adding that the World Series and Super Bowl are two other mass gatherings that are going to be researched for readiness.

So no, I am not upset, and don’t see how anyone who actually read the article with a critical eye could be. Besides, I thought GOP types made fun of the crybabies who were easily offended by everything. Seems like the right wing politically correct crowd is on the prowl again.

  • Earnest T 2.0 says:

Liberal racist elitist . Not held to any standards of honor or decorum .
And one thing that many people are missing , amongst all the other idiocy within his order. . . . Hepatitis B , one of the cited possible diseases that he’s trying to ‘protect’ his people from , is transmitted this way. . . . . . . . . … “Transmission results from exposure to infectious blood or body fluids containing blood. Possible forms of transmission include (but are not limited to) unprotected sexual contact, blood transfusions, re-use of contaminated needles and syringes, and vertical transmission from mother to child during childbirth.”

That leaves the reader wondering.. . . . Is Bennie-boy trying to say that his staff will be using old syringes ? . . . . unprotected sex with NASCAR fans ?. . . . .having babies on the racetrack ?. . . . . . . . . Or , the dreaded blood transfusion that always occurs at the Finish Line ?

  • connor g says:

Don’t get your knickers in a twist! The idiot is from Mississippi not Massachusetts! It doesn’t excuse his stupidity but it does partly explain it!

  • sagacious_ness says:

The shots were: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, diphtheria, tetanus and influenza. Those are normal types of vaccinations that should be kept up to date and any large crowd increases the risk of exposure to any of them. I was born and raised in the South and had all those shots, tetanus more often than usual because I lived on a horse farm. Do you think the US military was out of line for insisting I have all those and several more vaccinations? It’s been almost 25 years since I got them in basic, but maybe I could sue them anyway… oh wait, they vaccinated the Northerners too… drat!

  • Gabriel Archangel says:

When I started working in a hospital in the inner city hospitals for intership and work I had all the Hepatitis vaccines and such to protect me from all the people living in the city. Seems to me they would be more worried about Emergency workers in the big city than those at a NASCAR event. Besides, NASCAR events have always had at least a few jars of shine around and anyone with a lick of sense knows that s*** can sterilize and kill just about anything!!!
