Hours and hours of clicking on every option till you find the way!
No course can teach it all, you just have to dig.

there are a couple of ways. There are classes and such you can take for specific things (in highschool there were a few classes required which taught basic computer skills) or you can read the manual or any other kinds of directions, or how i learn, just learn as you go. play around with whatever you don’t know, and eventually, you’ll get it. Hope that helps! goodLuck

Most of the stuff I just ended up teahing myself after multiple trial and error experiences. Sometimes I still do look up things on any given search engine and if I still cannot find out then, I ask someone I feel comfortable with to help me over IM or email. Having it explained thoroughly is best to have with someone who is actually there because you can ask questions if you get lost. If you are looking into how to learn a programming language, there are free tutorials all over the internet. You just have to search a little for them, not too difficult to find most of that common stuff.

    Hi dlwise,

When I 1st got my computer I read all the tutorial’s about my computer, also I got the books The Internet for dummies & PC’s for dummies between the 2 books I learned alot. By trail & error, from other people how to do certain stuff on the computer. Have a good day. :0)

The magazines are good for information. The website for what you want to learn. A lot of times they have tutorials. Forums are good because you can actually ask people what you don’t understand.

You don’t say what you want to get into or learn so I can’t point you to any website. But you enough on how to search that you can find anything. Do that and build a favorites folder with the websites you find interesting and start learning.

Never be afraid to ask questions. Nobody was born with the info (except for maybe the first poster!). Everybody has to start somewhere. The wanting to learn is the first step, finding all the info you can on it is next, then asking questions and putting what you learn to use follows.

Pretty soon you will know so much, YOU will be teaching beginners on some website or forum somewhere!

Good luck, and remember that the only person that can hold you back is yourself.

Had a lot of formal training on computers , and plenty of informal training by coworkers, and 25 year’s experience. In addition to that, did plenty of experimenting, poking around and seeing how things work, and learning as I was doing the job itself. Manuals, if they’re well written can be helpful, but the problem is that many of them aren’t that well written.
