Author: I am not computer savvy and I was just wondering how I can get internet access with a wireless computer.
do I have a bill? I have heard the term wifi before.
I need help to sort this out.

You have to have a access point to connect to. This is usually a Router that has wifi built in and turned on. You would be paying for a connection from a ISP…like Comcast ,Verizon SBC, Qwest, AT&T, Bell South
You can goto your ISP and buy a Wireless Plan or if you have a existing Cable or ADSL internet connection then buy a Wireless Router that is capable with your laptops wireless card ex check if the laptop for example has a wireless card with the band 801.11a/g and make sure you buy a router with 801.11a/g capabilities. Then connect your router with the modem and setup your wireless from there.
Assuming that you have a Windows laptop then the following information will help you out.
First of all, click start and click “My Network Places”. After this is done, click in the upper left hand corner where it says “View Network Connections”. Then click your the “Wireless Network Connections” icon.
I’m sorry, but after that there are many things that might pop up depending on the computer. So, you’ll have to look for something with names of the different access points. After you found that connect to your desired connection and you should be able to have the internet.
