How do I erase everything on my computer without the cd?

I’ve had to do this before but for some reason this time I can’t find the right options to do it. Last time I hit either the f2 or f12 key when the computer is first booting up. But if anyone knows a better way to do this I’d greatly appreciate it if they shared. Thanks!

If you have a system recovery partition then this is what you do..

If you have HP or Compaq..

-upon startup tap F10
-let it load and choose what you want to do

If you have Dell its F12
