Author: this started when I changed my home page to yahoo. Norton security is not picking up any viruses or threats, I think this is some type of virus or scam. please help.

SpyShredder, or Spy-Shredder, is the successor to the rogue anti-spyware program called SpySheriff . SpyShredder is installed on your computer without your permission through the use of Trojans and other malware. Once installed, the Trojans will display messageboxes on your screen stating the following:
“NOTICE: If your computer has been running slower than normal, it may be infected with Viruses, Adware or Spyware. Spy-Shredder will perform a quick and completely FREE scan of your system for malicious programs. Download Spy-Shredder for FREE now!”
What it purposely not telling you, though, is that when run SpyShredder is run it will display fake and exaggerated results and then require you to purchase the software before you can fix anything. Needless to say you should not purchase this software as the program and its accompanying malware are the actual infections.

Go to Run and type msconfig
then go to the startup tab
and deselect the Spy Shredder program.
alternatively you can download Windows defender and go to the software explorer and remove the spy shredder from the startup .
Your computer is infected with rogue antispyware program
1.Download the spyware removal tool from http://www.sff.notlong.com
2. Unzip the folder called Smitfraud.zip and run a file called smitfraudfix.cmd in the folder.
3.Follow the menu screen options and select option 1,2,Q
4.restart your computer once
5.Download a free spyware software like Spybot search and destroy from http://www.geeksjunction.com/Download/Download.html to check your computer for spyware.

Use some other software. AVG , Avast are free antivirus software. Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html
