you will be taken to the booking area. if you can bond out. then you may never go to jail. if you go to jail it may take 5-10 hrs to transport you there. (cutbacks)
as for showers/delousing. – well you might not get to take a shower for 3-7 days. if I were you bring a change of under wear and socks. boxers t-shirt socks. wear no jewelry(get it stolen) bring money so you can order from the jail store (like a 7-11)
your gang affiliation and past criminal history as well as your current one will be factors to your security risk. but your health, size, addictions will also come in to play.
Well, if you didn`t kill anyone, it is not that bad. they will hand cuff you if they pick you up. but if you just show up they will take your picture, finger print you, ask you to take everything out of your pockets, they will swab your mouth for your DNA. yes they will most likely take you in room, just you and the jailer, ask you to undress and look you over good, I never had them stick a finger up my Butt. give you a pair Orange cover alls, a pair of sandals. a blanket & sheets. OK depending what your in for they have different cell blocks a large area, with a bunch of cells in it. and they put the real bad guys in one, some dumb asss in another, and a cell block for folks who just Fooked up, like a DUI, did`nt pay child support, bad check, stuff like that, if you just be yourself, and not a smart ass everyone will treat you right, in your cell block, tell you things to help you, and everyone is the same, just do your time, and let others do theirs, play cards read watch TV, eat three times a day. most jails have a exercise room for a hour a day. at night you`ll go into your little cell and they lock you up, there is a speaker in your cell and you can push a button, if you need some help with anything. there will be a pretty bright light that stays on all night. it is not that bad, nobody enjoys being locked up, but if you just go with the flow, time goes by faster than you think. Well hope this helps you, I`v been there 4 DUI`s 180 days, it wasn`t anything like on TV or the movies. Oh guy, if you can take some money you will be well off, once a week you can buy stuff, coffee pop candy, a lot of stuff, a word to the wise, don`t try to buy or give your stuff away to guys, some people will bum you to death, you know a cup of coffee, a bite off your candy is ok, but if you give to one you`ll have to give to everyone, so watch your money, and like wise not be a bum, don`t ask for anything, OK Buddy I`ll shut up, you have a good one. Bye and be cool, you`ll do fine.

I can only give what happens during the intake for a woman:
yes you will have to be strip searched and other inmates will see you naked. as to how the search procedure goes you and any other inmate waiting are taken to a room where 2 or more officers of the same sex will instruct you remove your clothing. Once undressed the officer has you to open you mouth move your tongue up, down, left and right and then stick your tongue out next they look up your nose and behind your ears. Next if you have long hair as I do they make you shake your hair out next the officer checks the chest area ( if your a woman the have you to lift each breast one at a time) they check your arm pits next they will have you to spread your legs squat down and cough then stand back up legs spread bend over spread cheeks officer will look to see nothing is hidden (if your a guy I’m sure the will check under you private parts as well) last raise each foot wiggle toes and show bottom of feet.
This is very embarrassing and degrading
No you cant choose what uniform you get we had the orange jumpsuits for when we left the facility and when in our cells we had white t-shirt and gray sweat pants.
Restraints when I was taken in they place the waist chain around me and I had handcuffs on my hands and on the waist chain (hand movement was limited) also once inside the jail they took my shoes had to run around in my socks. Yes you security level will determine how much restraints you have.
Time spent in your cell depends on where your at its not that bad.
being released depends its different form place to place
