@helmetvanga , im getting service by a cable ,i use a cable to my jack in the wall and my computer. My provider is bredband2 , i live in sweden… so cant i just use the ethernet cable from the jack in the wall to a wireless router ?

  • HelmetVanga says:

@oze100 well, first you need to get signal or service from your ISP provider to something..that something usually is a DSL/modem. Start there first. how r u getting service from your provider into your home..Who is provider the DSL/modem or cable coaxil cable?

i have a internet jack in the wall and i use a ethernet cable to my Pc , do i need a modem??? cant i just put a internet cable from the wall to the wireless internet???

  • Coolboy529 says:

my school has a jack on the wall and they dont need a modem so… no

  • Coolboy529 says:

    not all of them do

  • HelmetVanga says:

you need the dsl/modem which brings internet signal from outside your household and passes the signal via the ethernet jack in the wall. The router will be connected to the dsl/modem via WAN port

  • HelmetVanga says:

Yes. The DSL/modem is provided by your ISP provider like comcast or qwest. The modem has a WAN port which connects to the router. You can tell the ethernet ports are different colors and different. From the router u can connect wireless to your laptop or pc..or even use ethernet cables.

  • MegaJman11 says:

Its antenna not ANTENNAS fucking dumbass

  • ITsniffer says:

Bad advice, Wireless Routers come with (2 or 3) antenna’s for the reason so the signal for the wireless bounces between the strongest antenna. Only, (1) antenna is transmitting data not both or 3 of them. Learn this before posting. Second, the ports on the Router do not “Assign” IP Addresses, they “Connect” your device. Your “DHCP Server” assigns your IP or you assign them with a “Static” IP. There are so many poorly instruction guides on Youtube. I’m a Network Engineer, and all I can say..lousy

You connect the modem to the wireless router or the modem can be wireless modem so no need for a router
