I have an all in one printer set up as a fax machine only right now.. I would like to be able to have it on my computer network but there is no computer available there and moving it is not an answer as that is where phone line is?
Thanks !!
I have computers in my house…just not in the room where the all in one is… and the computers are too far away from the fax line.
The all in one only has usb and parallel connectors on back… nothing else?!

How can you have a computer network with no computers?
There are some devices at RadioShacks or Circuit Cities which will let you network a printer w/o a computer. It plugs into the network jack or usb port in the back of it. Then it goes to the router. Some are wireless.
If the printer is network ready and has a network connection connect it to your router or switch. If not run an extension from the current fax point to be near one of the computers. This is very easy to do and cheap.
Wireless and LAN connect printer controllers do not work with multi function machines!
All of your computers can connect to this All-in-One in many ways.
If you have a network :
You can put it on one computer and share it with the other computers on your network through this computer (when the computer is powered on.) Or if you purchase a “print-hub” you can wire the All-n-1 to the hub and it will be ready to print without having to be connected to any computer.
Or you can purchase a wireless print hub. Now it starts getting tricky. Please mark my answer as best if you feel it is worthy.
